Now, I'm sure the fact that my ankles are likely weak as heck aren't helping since most of the time I'm sitting at my computer, so I'm gonna be doing strengthening exercises, but yeah. I heard that with hard foam mats, you're not supposed to wear shoes, but I'm suspecting the issue is with shock absorption since it's the jumps that are what are messing me up. Got ankle braces today but that isn't helping much either. I remember enough from my childhood to keep the heights of my jumps absolutely minimal, but it doesn't stop things from hurting pretty quickly. The issue is that after a song or two that involve jumps, my legs and ankles really start hurting. I'm very out of shape so I can't do anything near what I used to before four and five footers are what I go for now. I used to play DDR waaaaay back in the day (I remember the excitement of us finally getting 4th mix in the east coast arcades), and decided to get back into it for cardio's sake for weight loss. I thought about like sporty running shoes but also I imagine those have a ton of deep treads right? I kinda want low friction, y'know? Went too hard last week and my ankles were sore in a not-great way. And I grew up an arcade rat so if any arcades survive I'd like to be able to play there sometime.Ĭurrently trying out my toe shoes, but trying to take it easy cuz that's way less protection on my feet. Socks sounds kinda nice, but the screws on this thing are friggin gnarly so not doing that. I tried cleaning the (plexiglass?) with windex but I know windex is really caustic so I didn't do a lot 'cuz I'm scared of stuff getting in the cracks. Tried to use really old shoes but the loose rubber on the bottom was just as bad. Maybe it's that I'm low energy today and not picking up my feet enough. I had fairly new sneakers on with a lot of fresh tread left. I been sweating a lot as I push myself harder and just a hand towel aint stopping me from dripping. But it's not sticky to the touch or anything. It's even making this "spltch" sound as I'm stepping. Been rocking my new L-TEK for a couple weeks and now my shoes are sticking to it more. Yuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't worry 16 year old me!! We finished it later!ĮDIT: Hey is it okay to plug my stream? I'm trying to keep a stream schedule of this game to keep myself motivated bc I never maintain a workout regimen! I'm usually a little late, and today I got so frustrated I cut the stream but if you wanna follow & cheer me on, I go tuesday & thursday 5pm PST: Today was a shorter workout as I'm tired and annoyed, and I was like "Okay. Usually I try it too late into my workout, like 20-something songs in, and I'm exhausted. It got real sloppy at the end but I play 2-3x a week and try this song every time and today I tried early on, no dice. Been playing for a few weeks, and most importantly I have no bar to hold onto. So I'm in my 30's now, and haven't exercised for 2 years. I remember getting fairly far if I held onto the bar the entire time. I saw the older kids doing So Deep and I was envious cuz I just could not hang with that song. I grew up playing DDR Max2 and Extreme in the arcade, basically hovered at 8-9 foot songs. I know it aint much but I beat So Deep on hard let's goooooooo
